Singapore's Lee Kuan Yew stands up to the incoming tide

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Singapore state controlled newspaper Straits Times online edition of Jan 10, 2012 has the story "Orchard floods need new solutions as Stamford Canal is inadequate". The story is about the almost daily flooding in Singapore prime shopping area, not to mention island wide, a phenomenon which Lee Kuan Yew's highest paid ministers in the world seem unable to solve, and what is worse, never anticipated.

The story comes up with some ingenious, but more accurately described as desperate hopelessness, such suggestions as "storing water in the Orchard Road Area further upstream", "storing water in roof tops", "storing water in retention ponds" "building storage tanks along Stamford Canal route" etc.

The story admits, we have to concede, that the frequent flooding was due to "more intense rain and increased urbanization" something even lesser paid third rate ministers around the world would have been aware of, which, unfortunately these incompetent ministers, each of which are paid several times the salary of President Obama were unable to anticipate.

Frankly when people such as these have begun to talk of storing rain water in such places as Singapore in roof tops, it simply means that they have run out of ideas and are now beginning to spin a yarn for public consumption, for fear that the hopelessness of the situation would be discovered.

Singaporeans should realize that it is the incompetence and maladministration of Lee Kuan Yew's regime which has brought the island into such a hopeless state. Any layman would have told you, Singapore is far too small and far too built up and far too overcrowded to be able to manage any of these things like storage tanks. Furthermore even if you could built tanks and find the space for it in crowded Singapore, the rainfall is far too intense and heavy for any tank to hold it.

It is simply forlorn hope, there is nothing to hope for, the flooding is simply going to continue to become more and more intense, more and more frequent and more and more catastrophic.

When ministers such as these begin to talk like Jules Verne did, you know the game is up.

I am not sure when the next great down pour is going to be, today or tomowrrow, and the question is whether it will coincide with high tide, if it does, we have another flood, and again the same a few days later and then more and more frequent and more and more heavier. As we speak, global atmospheric temperature continues to increase, the tide continues to go higher and higher and sea level elevates on a daily basis. The atmospheric temperature steadily rises, holding more and more water vapour which means heavier and heaver downpours.

Lee Kuan Yew and his million dollar ministers have completely failed their people in this issue. They should have known that and island as small as Singapore is incapable of supporting 6 million people in a concrete jungle which is not more than a few inches above sea level, as simple as that.

All we have to do now is to simply sit back and see the entire Lee Kuan Yew edifice built on greed, corruption and avarice just collapse. As flooding continues to increase, Orchard Road prime shopping district will be wiped out of businesses and customers entirely. Already the flow of businesses outwards has already begun. Lait Towers and Lucky Plaza owners will all terminate their leases and get out. As the waters increase even further, Orchard Towers and other buildings next in the line of the floods will similarly pull out.

Many tenants and residents in the Bukit Timah flood prone district are also not waiting for the last day, and have already begun moving out.

As and when the Singapore business fails because of the effects of flooding, Lee Kuan Yew and his government will also rattle and collapse in no time.

I am not sure what will happen next but it appears Mother Nature is not prepared to forgive Lee Kuan Yew's dictatorship, that seems clear. It seems she must have her pound of flesh this time.

Did you say Lee Kuan Yew 'stands up?' Heh, he is unlikely to be able to manage even that basic feat for much longer if recent footage from Parliament is anything to go by.

When poor little Kate Spade aka Tin Pei Ling began to speak, this ill-mannered, intolerant old goat probably could not bear the thought of wasting the last few precious moments of his almost bankrupt life force listening to a space cadet 'who 'doesn't know what to say', so he rose to stalk from the room careless of the obvious insult to one endorsed by his own party.

Well, not so much rose as staggered to his feet clutching his briefcase for dear life as he stumbled on quivering legs from his seat, weaving from side to side like a drunken sailor on a rolling deck in full view of a contemptuous nation. Not a pretty sight.

Clearly only sheer bloodymindedness and the vindictive need to extricate the very last drops of misery from Singaporeans keeps him putting one foot in front of the other these dying days of The Emperor. It cannot be long before his next public pronouncement will be from a wheelchair, drooling and dribbbling and insisting in that old man's cackling voice that 'You know, I still have much to offer the nation and nobody does it better...blah, vomit, puke'.

Orchard road is a valley, lowest in front of CK Tang. The canalrunning from Tanglin through Orchard Road has been filled up by concrete lining both sides of Orchard Road. All the greenery either side of Orchard Road has been replaced by concrete. What do you think will happen when the Monsoon strikes? The obvious will happen - floods will keep occuring until this anomaly is resolved. How come no one in the PAP government noticed this? This is common sense. No need for President's scholar to see this.
